Our History
Founded in 2012, Derillion is a private family office (trust) run by and for a single family. Its sole function is to centralize the management of the family wealth. It manages investments, funds, taxes, philanthropic activities, trusts, and legal matters. The group’s main activities were investment in property and fixed assets throughout the Caribbean.
2014, with uncertainty around oil, gas, water and energy costs caused the trust to fundamentally change its direction and investment strategy. Responding to the urgent need for cleaner, more sustainable and affordable energy solutions, the trust set out to establish itself as a major innovator in renewable energy systems.
2015, the group successfully won the bid and secured over 146sq/km of off-shore seabed rights in the territorial waters of the Isle of Man (Irish Sea). The project envisaged the deployment of 240 (1MW) underwater marine current turbines, following on from the trial and testing of our 1MW MCT. In March 2017 the United Kingdom government phased out the Renewable Obligations Scheme (ROCs) in favour of Contracts for Difference (CfDs), in this process the Isle of Man was moved outside of the supported zone. With no support mechanism in place to export the power the project ceased to be viable.
2016, AQVASOLAR was created and the group moved into the manufacturing of floating solar products. This has remained the company’s main focus over the years, with major improvements in durability, design, deployment and manufacturing. Out latest innovation is the mobile production facility, which in March 2022 saw its first deployment to Jamaica. Our floats are now designed to withstand 70m/s wind speeds and have a usable working life of over 25 years.
2018, the focus for the group changed from manufacturing and supply only, to energy generation. DERILLION ENERGY was formed with the goal to design, manufacture, build, own and operate renewable energy plants.
Today, the group now manufactures a range of solar mounting products, battery storage systems and hybrid inverters. The acquisition of REIL ENERGY, now brings in-house engineering, construction and project management expertise. DERILLION CAPITAL completes our team with innovative project financing and leasing options.
This has enabled the company to grown and fulfil its goals of providing “Sustainable, Reliable and Affordable Energy to its clients and customers”.
